On Culture
Each artisan finds their own inspiration for their work. Something as common as a leaf in autumn, or a stone on the roadside, can bring about some of the most amazing pieces of jewelry. The images and symbols--the inspiration of daily life-- form the unconscious understanding of the world around us. Culture is more than the language of a people; it is the world we live in, the way we hold ourselves in the world, and the language of our prayers.
Our culture is best seen in our creative endeavors. As our art nourishes us, our culture is shaped.
As our site becomes populated you will find stories, ideas and images that have inspired the Of the Earth Artisans.

The above piece, created by Dennis Doxtater, is one example of how symbols of the past and present are born into art.

Culture is more than the language of a people; it is the world we live in, the way we hold ourselves in the world, the way we relate to others, the way we define family and the language of our prayers. Culture is all of these and more.
